Actually Good Dorm Decor That You’ll Want to Keep (Even After Graduation)

Shopping for school supplies at the end of summer has always been a thrill for me — it’s the mark of new beginnings. But buying items to outfit a dorm room can seem overwhelming. With only a basic bed, desk, chair, and dresser, typically in a dated, cramped space, it's hard to imagine a dorm room ever feeling like home.

Fortunately, in addition to the essentials, the right decor can transform your dorm room into a beautiful space that reflects your style while also offering plenty of creature comforts. Just a few years ago, for example, when I moved into my first dorm, I found that, although the room was small, adding framed prints I collected on family vacations made my corner of the world feel more connected to the comforting memories of home.

If you’re looking to do the same, here are a few tips, along with our favorite high-impact favorites that you’ll enjoy for years to come.
