We Tried the Nipple Cream Hack ‘White Lotus’ Star Carrie Coon Swears By—and Loved It

If Carrie Coon told any one of us at Wirecutter to jump, the only question we’d ask is, “Wait, Carrie Coon is actually talking to me?!?” And then, of course, we’d ask, “How high?” That’s how much we adore (and believe we’d be fantastic IRL besties with) the actress who appears as fortysomething divorcée Laurie Duffy on the third season of The White Lotus.
So when Coon, also known for playing social climber Bertha Russell on The Gilded Age, mentioned in a recent TikTok video that she swears by lanolin-based Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream as a lip balm—and that she has “converted a lot of people to nipple cream for their lips”—we knew we had to try it.
“I never leave the house without Lansinoh Nipple Cream for my lips,” she says in the clip (which, we confirmed with a brand rep, was not a paid endorsement). “Nipples and lips are basically the same tissue. So it stands to reason that nipple cream’s going to work very well on your lips.”
She also insists that “you don’t have to put [the Lansinoh cream] on as often” as lip balm. And because it’s meant for use in an area where babies nurse, “you can eat it,” she says. “So it’s perfectly safe to put on your face.”
